Filmed on 22nd June 1983, the end of an era came whilst filming episode 13 ‘When the Boat Goes Out' when Wayne's carelessly discarded cigarette ignited leaking petrol from Barry's bike destroying their home ‘Hut B’ along with passports and personal belongings.It is well documented that the special effects team were somewhat overzealous resulting in hazardous flames and debris falling around cast and crew, evident during the closing scenes of this magical final episode written by Stan Hey.Such was the velocity of the 'pyrotechnics', it was reported cameraman Roy Simper was dragged through a window of the burning structure to safety complete with recording equipment narrowly escaping tragedy!
